ROCHESTER — The Rochester Royals stayed alive in the Section 1, Class A amateur baseball playoffs Saturday afternoon at Mayo Field, beating the Hampton Cardinals 8-7.
The Royals used a big sixth inning to get it done, scoring six runs in the frame and bolstered by a three-run home run by AJ Vandereide.
The Royals used four pitchers in the game.
Grady Babcock pitched one inning, Sam Graunke two and Spencer Kober one.
Next up for the Royals is another Section 1 playoff game at 2 p.m. Sunday at Mayo Field, Rochester taking on the Lakeville Loonatics.
