Remembering the Bay Hotel and Gourock's yellow kettle

Built for Glasgow Garden Festival in 1988, at one point the giant yellow kettle contained a tourist information centre, book and souvenir shop and a free local accommodation booking facility.
Then photo (Image: George Munro)It was shipped to Gourock and installed in the mid-1990s.
In our 'Then' picture, it can be seen looming in the foreground, with another well-know landmark, the Bay Hotel, on the right hand side of the photograph.
The Bay Hotel opened in April 1938 before eventually falling into disrepair and subsequently being demolished.
