Blenheim Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Oxfordshire and one of Britain’s most iconic buildings, is preparing to unveil the results of its most ambitious conservation project yet. The two-year scheme focused on repairing and preserving the palace roof, safeguarding its historic architecture for generations to come. As the scaffolding comes down, visitors will soon be able to enjoy the restored palace in its full glory. Re-leading the roof, repairing and replacing slates across key areas, and increasing gutter capacity by more than 300 per cent is also part of the restoration. Blenheim Palace first opened to the public 75 years ago to fund similar roof repairs, and revenue from visitors remains critical to its ongoing conservation.
