Srinagar, Aug 9: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Sunday conducted searches at more than 20 residential locations in Sopore area of Baramulla district as part of an investigation into a case registered under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) against the banned Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI). Officials said the searches were carried out at residential houses linked to individuals associated with the banned organisation. The operation was conducted in connection with a UAPA case registered by Sopore Police as part of an ongoing investigation into the activities of the organisation. Security officials carried out the searches at multiple locations across the Sopore area, with the exercise aimed at gathering evidence and furthering the investigation. The searches come as security agencies continue to investigate cases involving banned organisations and their alleged activities in Jammu and Kashmir.
