Police Scotland objected to Gurtyan Singh’s licence renewal bid but the applicant claimed he has turned his life around. An officer told Glasgow’s licensing committee that Mr Singh had been sentenced to 15 months in prison last year after he was concerned in the supply of cocaine. Councillors decided to grant a private hire car driver’s licence for one year — rather than the three requested — and issued a severe warning to Mr Singh. Police Scotland said a search warrant had been executed at an address in Glasgow in December 2022, which led to Mr Singh being charged. Mr Singh added he was “not proud of what happened” and wants to “get on with my life”.
