Officials say the situation requires close monitoring, particularly in areas vulnerable to sudden flooding and rapid changes in water levels. The situation could become more challenging as the NDMA expects water flows in several major rivers to increase during August 8 and 9. Low-level flooding is also anticipated at Sukkur on the Indus, Marala on the Chenab and Balloki on the Ravi. Punjab is also under scrutiny, with the hill torrents of Dera Ghazi Khan and Rajanpur identified as potential sources of low to moderate flooding. Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Narowal, Faisalabad, Okara and Lahore have been identified as cities where low to moderate urban flooding could occur.
