Landing and take-off operations at Butuan Airport were temporarily suspended on Sunday, August 9, 2026, after a disabled aircraft obstructed the runway, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) said.
The temporary suspension affected airport operations and resulted in the cancellation of at least 11 flights operated by Cebu Pacific, Cebgo, and Philippine Airlines.
Cebu Pacific cancelled five Butuan-Manila flights, namely 5J786, 5J794, 5J792, 5J788, and 5J790.
Meanwhile, Cebgo cancelled three Butuan-Cebu services: DG6930, DG6926, and DG6924.
CAAP said it continues to monitor airport operations in coordination with concerned government agencies and airline operators, stressing that passenger safety remains its top priority.
