Nigeria has achieved a historic milestone in international sports governance as Adeyinka Samuel has been elected President of the Commonwealth Fencing Federation (CFF). His election underscores Africa’s growing influence in global fencing and marks a new era for the sport across the Commonwealth. The election coincides with Nigeria’s hosting of the senior and veteran Commonwealth Fencing Championships in Lagos, featuring over 20 participating nations. Delegates praised Samuel’s leadership and vision, highlighting his journey from world-class athlete to President of the Nigeria Fencing Federation. Under his stewardship, Nigeria has successfully hosted the International Fencing Federation (FIE)-sanctioned Junior World Cups and African Championships, and now proudly becomes the first African nation to stage the Senior Commonwealth Championships.
