Assam flood crisis deepens as death toll rises to 99; CM takes stock of situation in Darrang

Guwahati , August 9 : The death toll in Assam's ongoing floods has reached 99, with several districts reporting casualties as the flood situation continues to remain grim across the state.
Meanwhile, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday visited flood-affected areas in Darrang district to take stock of the situation and review ongoing relief and repair works.
At Bengabara, the Chief Minister inspected the breached portion of the Noa River embankment and reviewed the ongoing repair work.
The Chief Minister enquired about their well-being and assured them of all possible assistance.
The Chief Minister also assured that all flood-affected families would be provided necessary assistance at the earliest as per government norms.
