Russian Sleep Experiment is a creepypasta story about a purported experiment performed by Russian scientists in the 1940s in which prison inmates were gassed to test the effects of prolonged sleep deprivation. On August 8th, 2009, the Rip747 Wordpress blog posted the "Russian Sleep Experiment" story, claiming to have received the creepypasta in an email from his brother. Russian researchers in the late 1940s kept five people awake for fifteen days using an experimental gas based stimulant. The test subjects were political prisoners deemed enemies of the state during World War II. All four 'surviving' test subjects also had large portions of muscle and skin torn away from their bodies.
