Crisis appears to be brewing within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Jigawa State ahead of the 2027 general elections, as the party’s governorship candidate, Senator Sabo Mohammed Nakudu, has disowned an alleged power-sharing agreement said to have been reached between him and another political figure, Hon. He specifically rejected the alleged 60:40 power-sharing arrangement, including claims concerning the deputy governorship slot, allocation of elective positions and future federal or state appointments. Nakudu urged political actors, institutions and media organisations to refrain from treating or circulating the document as an agreement duly executed or authorised by him. The development comes as political parties and aspirants begin realigning ahead of the 2027 elections, with questions over possible alliances and power-sharing arrangements expected to shape the political landscape in Jigawa State. Nakudu, however, maintained that he is not a party to the purported agreement and would not be bound by any of its provisions.
