Ghana has received a Master Plan for Tax Modernisation aimed at broadening the tax base and strengthening domestic revenue mobilisation. The plan, developed with support from the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), also seeks to improve tax compliance, digitise tax administration and strengthen public financial management. “The Plan proposes practical measures to broaden the tax base while making tax compliance easier through digital services, simplified procedures, improved taxpayer services, and strengthened institutional capacity. The plan places particular emphasis on bringing the informal sector into the tax net, while setting out measures to improve income tax and Value Added Tax (VAT) policy, digitize tax administration and develop a data-driven intelligent tax system. Mr Park said Korea’s economic development demonstrated the importance of modern and transparent tax administration in achieving sustainable growth.
