Work to make significant changes to Chippenham Railway Station was due to begin on Saturday, August 8.
Cllr Liz Alstrom, the Wiltshire Council member for Chippenham Hardens and Central, has warned residents that work could continue at the station until May 2027.
During the works, up to 82 car parking spaces in Cocklebury Road Car Park One, opposite Sadlers Mead, will be temporarily unavailable.
A contractor compound will be in place at the car park from Saturday onwards, but not all 82 spaces will be required throughout the whole project.
GWR's station manager for Chippenham, Oana Apetroaie, added: “We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause customers, but this is an important investment in the future of Chippenham station.
