BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – The ongoing cyclosporiasis outbreak may be contributing to increased lettuce sales, according to local farmers. Farmers at the Burlington Farmers Market said lettuce sales have been on the rise since the start of the cyclosporiasis outbreak. One farmer said his lettuce sales have nearly doubled. Malachi Witt of Witt Acres Farms said customers have been making the connection between the outbreak and locally sourced produce. But, overall, lettuce sales have crept up since the outbreak,” Witt said.
