Iran has set additional demands for reopening of the Strait of Hormuz including compensation for damage caused during the war. Araghchi stressed that reopening Hormuz would depend on additional conditions, including compensation for violations of an agreement reached with the US in June. Meanwhile, security chief Mohammad Bagher Zolghadr outlined several requirements for reopening Hormuz including an end to war and attacks against Iran and its allies in Lebanon, Palestine, Yemen and Iraq. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated that Hormuz status was separate from Iran’s discussions with Oman. It maintained that the opposing side would ultimately have to accept Iran’s conditions before the Strait of Hormuz could be reopened.
