Seoul was already deep in the heat of August when thousands of MYs made their way to Gocheok Sky Dome for the opening weekend of aespa‘s fourth world tour. Across Aug. 7 and 8, Karina, Winter, Giselle and Ningning welcomed a combined 35,000 fans to aespa’s first concerts at the dome, opening SYNK : COMPLæXITY with 27 songs across roughly two-and-a-half hours. SYNK : COMPLæXITY draws on all of those elements at once, but the Seoul show was most effective when they played off one another rather than simply adding to its scale. For longtime MYs, the Seoul kickoff opened another chapter in a familiar world. For those waiting for aespa to arrive in their city, it offered a first look at how the group is carrying that language into its fourth world tour.
