CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — The Chillicothe City Pool at Yoctangee Park will close for the season on Sunday, Aug. 16, at 5 p.m., wrapping up another summer of public swimming. Dogs must be on a leash entering and exiting the facility, and owners are asked to bring proof of current vaccinations, city officials said. Yoctangee Park, home to the city pool, is a roughly 48-acre park in downtown Chillicothe adjacent to the Historic First Capital District. The park was established in 1875 as City Park and was renamed Yoctangee — a reference to pigments historically used by the area’s Native American inhabitants — in the 1890s. City officials thanked residents for another season at the pool and invited families to bring their dogs out for one final splash before the facility closes for the year.
