Morocco advanced to the semifinals of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) after defeating South Africa 2-1 on Saturday at Moulay El Hassan Stadium in Rabat. The Atlas Lionesses topped Group A with seven points after opening the tournament with a 4-0 win over Kenya, beating Algeria 1-0, and concluding the group stage with a scoreless draw against Senegal. South Africa reached the quarterfinals as the Group B runner-up with four points after losing 2-1 to Tanzania in its opening match, drawing 2-2 with Ivory Coast and defeating Burkina Faso 1-0. With the victory, Morocco advanced to the WAFCON semifinals and secured qualification for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.
