Kolkata, Aug 9: The West Bengal unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has decided to grant additional powers to the party’s district-level observers to ensure better coordination between the district committee office-bearers and the MPs and MLAs from the districts concerned. A state committee member said it has often come to notice that there is a lack of coordination between the district committee office-bearers, such as the district presidents and the district general secretaries, and the MPs and MLAs in certain districts. In such a situation, the party’s state leadership has entrusted the district-level observers to ensure better coordination between the party’s district presidents, district general secretaries and the elected MPs and MLAs from the districts concerned,” said a member of the party’s state committee. At the same time, he added, the state unit of the BJP has given special responsibility to district-level observers to identify “scammers” at the grassroots level within the party. “The party’s district observers will identify those involved in extortion syndicates and those engaging in anti-party and immoral activities,” said the state committee member.
