‘You Are Enemies of Progress’ — Ben Bruce Blasts Critics of Lagos-Calabar Coastal HighwayFormer Senator Ben Murray-Bruce has described critics of the ongoing Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway project as “enemies of progress,” urging them to stay off the road when it is eventually completed. Murray-Bruce, a member of the Eighth Senate, said those opposed to the project would be free to use alternative and less convenient routes once the historic coastal highway is completed. The 700-kilometre Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, which cuts across Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, Edo, Delta, Rivers, Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom and Cross River states, is one of the Federal Government’s most ambitious infrastructure projects. Reacting to the controversy surrounding the project, Murray-Bruce argued that its long-term benefits would outweigh the criticisms trailing its construction. He said: “You are enemies of progress.
