By John Lee. Iraq's first LNG import terminal is expected to commence operations in the second quarter of 2027, according to US-based Excelerate Energy. Excelerate said it continues to monitor regional developments, with safety and security remaining central to project planning, while adapting its execution plans as conditions evolve. In October 2025, Excelerate signed a definitive commercial agreement with a subsidiary of the Ministry of Electricity for the integrated project, which includes a five-year regasification services and LNG supply agreement, with extension options, and a minimum contracted offtake of 250 million standard cubic feet per day.
