GP walk-in centres were unveiled as a flagship SNP policy earlier this year to help tackle the 8am appointment rush and improve rural healthcare. In February this year, the SNP announced plans to trial 16 walk-in clinics across Scotland in a bid to help tackle high demand. “Our introduction of the innovative pilot for GP walk-in services that this is to complement and not replace GP services,” she said, trying to reassure doctors. “It’s no surprise the SNP’s GP walk-in centres are proving to be a flop when there clearly aren’t enough staff to work in them,” said Aberdeenshire West MSP Alexander Burnett. “The Aberdeen centre is unique in Scotland as it is the first walk-in service open to all residents and visitors regardless of address or GP registration.”
