Town of Stettler has clarified the policing line in the 2026 tax bylaw.
(File photo)Following residents’ concerns regarding policing on the most recent tax bylaw, the Town of Stettler administration has issued an update.
The 2026 tax bylaw includes a line indicating that 1.89 per cent of the total mill rate is allocated to policing costs, which amounts to about $1.76 million.
Under the agreement, policing costs are shared between the town and the federal government.
In the 2026 tax bylaw, the town estimated a total budget of $24.9 million, with revenues aside from taxes estimated at $14.2 million.
