The Sylhet District Administration yesterday formed a five-member committee to investigate the cause of a head-on collision between two buses that killed nine people, including women and children, in Osmaninagar upazila.
The committee, headed by Additional District Magistrate Pinky Saha, was asked to submit its report within five working days.
Abdullah Al Mamun, deputy commissioner of Sylhet, said the committee will examine the circumstances surrounding the crash, the movements of the two buses, the drivers’ roles and road conditions.
The accident happened on Friday morning in the Kashikapan area when a Unique Paribahan bus collided head-on with a Bengal Paribahan bus on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway.
Another 14 injured passengers are receiving treatment at Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital.
