Saraswati Gao, NET Correspondent, Arunachal PradeshFour members of the banned insurgent group ULFA (Independent) named as SS Lance Corporal Ajay Asom, 33, son of Bhadra Kanta Borah; SS Lance Corporal Biplob Asom, 31, son of Jonmaijoy Das; SS Lance Corporal Monei Asom, 28, son of Lalit Borah; and SS Private Bolin Asom, 22, son of Biman Borah surrendered to the 44 Assam Rifles and Longding Police at Wakka in Arunachal Pradesh’s Longding district. During the surrender, security personnel seized four pistols and 17 live cartridges from them. Authorities termed the surrender a major success in the ongoing counter-insurgency drive in the region. An investigation into the case is currently in progress.
