Assam Rifles, DRI Seized Poppy Seeds Worth ₹1.65 Crore In Joint Operation In Sribhumi

NET Web DeskGuwahati, August 7: Assam Rifles, in coordination with the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), seized 11,130 kg of poppy seeds valued at approximately ₹1.65 crore during a joint operation in the Badarpur area of Assam’s Sribhumi district.
The operation was conducted on August 6 based on specific intelligence inputs.
Security personnel intercepted the consignment before it could be transported further, dealing a significant blow to the illegal narcotics supply network.
The seized consignment has been handed over to the DRI, Silchar, for further investigation and initiation of legal proceedings.
Officials said the operation reflects the continued efforts of security and enforcement agencies to combat the trafficking of narcotics and other illicit substances in the region.
