Ibobi said around 341.5 acres of land had been officially allotted for the permanent NIT Manipur campus during 2014-15 under the Congress government, with the land records (Jamabandi) completed subsequently.
Former Education Minister Moirangthem Okendro expressed surprise at Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh’s reported announcement that the government would provide a permanent campus for NIT Manipur at Kakching.
Maintaining that there was no need to shift NIT Manipur from its already allotted site, Okendro appealed to the people of Manipur, particularly student organisations, to examine the issue carefully and hold discussions before any final decision is taken.
