Abhijit Nath, NET Correspondent, TripuraAgartala, August 07, 2026: TIPRA Motha supremo Pradyot Kishore Debbarma on Friday ruled out any electoral alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for the forthcoming Village Committee elections under the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC), dismissing reports of a possible seat-sharing arrangement as “baseless.” Speaking from Shillong, Pradyot said no discussions had taken place with BJP leaders either in Tripura or with the party’s central leadership in New Delhi regarding a pre-poll alliance. Referring to the recently concluded ADC elections, Pradyot said some BJP leaders had levelled allegations against him and TIPRA Motha during the campaign. Announcing the party’s election strategy, Pradyot said TIPRA Motha would contest all 587 Village Committee seats independently, seeking a decisive mandate across the TTAADC and aiming to strengthen grassroots governance. The Village Committee elections are scheduled for September and will be the first such polls in nearly a decade.
