WWEAnother WWE champion has suffered an injury this past week and could potentially be facing some time out of action. At SummerSlam 2026 last weekend, Chelsea Green won a five-woman ladder match – which also included Charlotte Flair, Jade Cargill, Lash Legend and Tiffany Stratton – to become Interim WWE Women’s Champion. The interim champion needed to be crowned due to WWE Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley being out due to an injury she suffered back in June, which has required her to undergo surgery and put her on the shelf. It’s very obvious that being an interim champion is a runner-up prize, because otherwise WWE would have fully stripped Rhea Ripley of the title and made Green the full rather than interim champion. ADVERTISEMENTThen on SmackDown, while Green was announced as the “new WWE Women’s Champion” by the ring announcer, she was still listed as the interim champion on her nameplate graphic, and is still listed as that on WWE’s website as well.
