Jerome Summers leaned on a cane as he joined hundreds of others watching the ceremony marking the opening of the new Foster School. Summers was on the District 65 school board from 2005 to 2013. The referendum failed, but Summers remained confident a new school would be built. Summers attended the original Foster School from kindergarten through fifth grade. He was bused to Lincolnwood School for one year before starting at Haven Middle School.
