In the fourth article of this five-part series, ETHS junior Liam Race highlights Meals on Wheels, an organization that’s been delivering meals to seniors and others since 1968. Located on the northeast corner of Simpson Street and Darrow Avenue, the local Meals on Wheels provides nutritious meals to people throughout northern Cook County and Lake County. Meals on Wheels offers two choices each day: a meat entrée and a pescatarian or vegetarian option. “We produce about 1,000 meals a day between our home-delivered meals, on-site dining and our catering,” said Palmer. Part 3 highlights two local businesses that have found ways to keep unsold food out of landfills by donating to local organizations or selling at reduced prices.
