We need more population-level awareness of the true costs and benefits of international wildlife conservation. NS: The Elephant Jungle describes the typical evolution of a protected area in the Global South, showing how elites have disregarded local people. What's forestalling successful elephant conservation is the lack of sophistication and accountability in conservation institutions. The general public would be shocked by how little of the funds donated to large international NGOs actually goes to elephant conservation.
