As thousands of motorcyclists converge on the Black Hills this weekend for the 86th annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, longtime riders are sharing hard-earned advice on one critical topic: how to avoid getting your ass kicked. The legendary gathering, which began Friday and runs through Aug. 16, draws both first-timers and veterans who have made the pilgrimage for decades. Bob Pruitt, known as Pretty Bobbie, has more than 45 years in the saddle and multiple Sturgis trips under his belt. Never sit on, lean against or climb onto another rider’s motorcycle. Whether rough-and-rowdy or mellow, Sturgis offers freedom to each visitor — as long as they mind their manners.
