The Cubs officially activated Clay Holmes from the 60-day IL for his team debut tonight, the club announced. Lefty Braxton Garrett is headed back to Triple-A to clear a spot for Holmes. Holmes will make his first Cubs appearance in Kansas City with the team riding a five-game winning streak. Holmes’ 3.68 xFIP and 3.97 SIERA are more in line with his performance last season, but the Cubs would still take that production. The 29-year-old Garrett was having a strong season with Jacksonville, posting a 2.90 ERA with more than a strikeout per inning across 77 2/3 frames.
