Veteran catcher Seby Zavala is joining the Tigers on a minor league deal, as reported by Evan Woodbery of MLive.com. Zavala has spent the past couple of months in the Mexican League after being released by the Dodgers. The 32-year-old Zavala went 1-for-2 with a walk and strikeout in his debut with Triple-A Toledo on Friday. Zavala has a 71 wRC+ over 557 big-league plate appearances. The 2026 All-Star and reigning Gold Glove Award winner has a 141 wRC+ with 26 homers as the Tigers’ primary catcher.
