Visakhapatnam: In a concrete step to safeguard the city’s colonial-era heritage, Visakhapatnam south constituency MLA CH Vamsi Krishna Srinivas has taken the initiative to preserve and develop the historic European cemetery dating back to British era at Jagadamba junction. As part of the endeavour, the MLA visited the cemetery on Saturday along with officials and coalition leaders and examined the ancient tombs and surrounding areas. During the visit, Vamsi Krishna Srinivas discussed with officials the measures required to conserve the century-old structures and transform the premises into an attractive historical site. The MLA directed officials to prepare comprehensive plans for installing modern lighting at the cemetery and developing the surrounding area into a park. Vamsi Krishna Srinivas mentioned that the development of the cemetery would provide residents and tourists visiting Visakhapatnam an opportunity to explore an important chapter in the city’s history.
