Srisailam: The ongoing five-day Varuna Yagam and Sahasra Ghatabhishekam being conducted at the sacred Srisailam temple continued on Saturday with solemn Vedic rituals, special prayers, and sacred chants seeking timely rainfall, bumper agricultural yields, and state-wide prosperity. On the second day, Vedic priests performed Rishyashrunga Japa and offered special worship to a clay idol of Sage Rishyashrunga, praying for abundantmonsoon rains. Special spiritual chants, including Varuna Japa, Panchakshari Japa, and Moola Mantra Japa, were also reverently observed. In strict adherence to scriptural protocols, Vedic scholars conducted the Varuna Japa standing neck-deep inside a specially designed water body within the temple precincts. Temple authorities and officiating priests confirmed that all grand arrangements have been finalized to ensure smooth conduct of the remaining rituals through August 11.
