Pathikonda: Trade union leaders have issued a joint call to workers, farmers, and the general public to participate in large numbers in the constituency-level ‘Jail Bharo’ and protest demonstrations scheduled for August 10. The agitation aims to highlight resistance against the alleged anti-worker, anti-farmer, and anti-people policies of the Narendra Modi-led Central government. Addressing a preparatory meeting at the Devanakonda Tahsildar office premises on Saturday, Agricultural Workers’ Union district president B Veera Sekhar and AITUC district assistant secretary M Narasarao outlined their core demands. They also insisted on expanding MGNREGS to guarantee 200 workdays annually at a daily wage of Rs 700, alongside creating an urban employment guarantee framework. CITU mandal secretary M Ashok presided over the meeting, which was attended by trade leaders Yousuf Basha, Krishna, Y Mahendra, Ramanji, Bhaskar, and Vijay.
