Kadiri: An agricultural awareness programme on El Niño and rainfall deficit management was organized at the Patnam Rythu Seva Kendra in Kadiri Mandal.
ANGRAU Director Dr Sampath Kumar, ARS Principal Scientist Dr BV Bhaskar Reddy, and departmental officials inspected groundnut and maize fields.
Experts recommended spraying 500g chelated zinc per acre for maize zinc deficiency and foliar sprays of 1% KNO3 for moisture-stressed groundnuts.
With reduced rainfall expected through August and September, farmers were advised to adopt short-duration crops like ‘Garuda’ foxtail millet or switch to pearl millet, horse gram, and green gram to minimize crop losses.
