Rescue operation under way for stranded hiker after Mount Beerwah fall

A hiker who fell from Mount Beerwah on Saturday afternoon and spent the night stranded on the mountain has been rescued and is recovering in hospital.
Emergency services were called after the man, in his 20s, fell while hiking the popular Sunshine Coast Hinterland summit in the Glass House Mountains National Park about 4.30pm on Saturday.
The man suffered ankle injuries in the fall and was unable to descend the mountain.
Mount Beerwah is the highest of the Glass House Mountains and considered difficult to climb.
