Noise pollution issues could, therefore, impact a far greater number of species than previously anticipated.
It was already known that oysters are sensitive to changes in temperature, light, and chemical pollution.
“Lobsters or fish, which prey on young oysters, produce sounds within the oysters’ hearing range if they are close enough,” explained Massabuau.
We often think that underwater noise pollution only affects cetaceans or dolphins, but it appears that even “simple” mollusks are also affected.
