Veteran catcher Andrew Knizner is a free agent after opting out of his contract with the Red Sox, reports Jon Heyman of the New York Post. The Red Sox swung a blockbuster deal with the division-rival Orioles to land catcher Adley Rutschman. Rutschman went 1-for-2 with a pair of walks and two RBI in his first WooSox game. It’s unclear how many games Rutschman will need at Triple-A to get up to speed. A torrid stretch from the Red Sox has given them a 6 1/2 game lead for a Wild Card spot in the AL heading into the weekend.
