Adley Rutschman‘s first rehab game as a member of the Boston Red Sox was a thriller from start to fifth-inning finish. The newly-acquired All-Star catcher caught Triple-A WooSox right-hander Gage Ziehl for five innings at Worcester’s Polar Park on Saturday afternoon. When Ziehl hit centerfielder Colby Thomas with a pitch one out into the game, Rutschman caught Thomas stealing second to end the inning early threat. Nothing came of Rutschman’s two-out walk in the third, but he came up clutch the following inning. Rutschman is scheduled to serve as designated hitter for the WooSox on Sunday.
