Rain keeps temp down in J&K; Met predicts showers till Aug 11

Jammu: Jammu and Kashmir is likely to witness widespread rainfall and thunderstorms over the coming days, with the Meteorological department warning of heavy to very heavy rain in a few districts of Jammu division from August 9 to 11.
Jammu recorded a maximum temperature of 30.5 degree Celsius, which was 2.4 notches below normal, while the minimum settled at 23.6 degrees .
The city received 4.0 mm of rainfall in the past 24 hours ending at 5.30 pm on Saturday.
At Katra, the base camp for pilgrims visiting Mata Vaishno Devi shrine, the maximum temperature was 27.2 Degrees Celsius, 7.5 notches below normal, while the minimum stood at near normal at 23.6 degrees Celsius.
Srinagar also witnessed a pleasant weather with a high of 26.1 degrees Celsius which was 3.8 degrees below season’s average and a low of near normal 19.5 degrees Celsius.
