Legal Action Threatened Over Delays In Indiana’s Public Access Office

Cundiff, who formerly worked in the public access counselor’s office as a deputy to former Public Access Counselor Luke Britt, has represented local newsrooms navigating legal issues before, including the Indiana Daily Student and the Indiana Capital Chronicle.
The public access counselor also educates officials about the public’s right to information and answers Hoosiers’ questions about the state’s public access laws.
The letter indicated that if the office is not “amenable” then the coalition intends to pursue legal action demanding the public access counselor follow the 30-day requirement in the public access law.
“Collaboration from the Office of the Public Access Counselor is essential to informing the public and fostering transparency and accountability in government.”
