Flora “Alice” Hughes, 83, Syracuse, died Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2026, in Elkhart. She was born March 26, 1943, in Stone Gap, Va., to James and Belva (Hays) Sturgill. In August 1978, she married Robert Hughes, who preceded her in death in 1997. She is survived by her children, Michael (Donna) Sturgeon, Morgantown, Jeff (JoAnne) Sturgeon, Bloomington, and Neva Jo Hughes Griffith, Portage; and siblings, Jr. Ray Sturgill, Cromwell, and Nellie Fryman, Indianapolis.
