Macedonia today marks 25 years from the ambush of the Albanian UCK/NLA terrorist group that killed ten Macedonian army reservists on the road between Skopje and Tetovo.
The Karpalak ambush, one of the bloodiest attacks of the 2001 civil war, was carried out against a convoy manned by reservists from Prilep and turned into a firefight lasting several hours.
A day when Macedonia remembers its sons who, fulfilling their duty to the homeland, laid down their lives, said Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski in a statement.
Mickoski emphasized that 25 years later, time has not erased the pain, nor has it diminished our respect.
Karpalak is our common wound, but also our obligation to remember, emphasized the Prime Minister.
