The Allen County Sheriff's Office issued the following news release:"On Thursday evening, August 6, 2026, the Allen county Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a 4-year-old not breathing. The Allen County Communications Center received the 911 call just after 9:30 p.m. and learned that the parents, with the unconscious child, were driving to Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center in Chanute, where the child was later declared deceased. It was reported the child had been playing in a residence in the 200 block of North Walnut in Savonburg and allegedly received an electrical shock from a 220v dryer. The Allen County Sheriff's Office is investigating the incident. The Sheriff's Office extends our heartfelt condolences to the family members and all those affected by this tragedy, including the Allen County dispatchers, first responders, and hospital personnel."
