The Moviegoer is the diary of a local film buff, collecting the best of what Chicago’s independent and underground film scene has to offer. (The film is showing on 70 mm at the Music Box Theatre, AMC River East 21, and AMC Roosevelt Collection 16. One such take is that the emphasis on IMAX 70 mm as the ideal viewing format is elitist. After having seen it (on 70 mm), I don’t care about any of these potential viewpoints. But, looking at him through his films, all I see is quixotic vision and generally soulless pursuit of it.
