It might be set in a horrifying future ravaged by nuclear fallout, but Modern Archaic Theatre Company’s adaptation of Euripides’s The Bacchae is a wonderful sign of things to come. For the uninitiated (like me, last week), Modern Archaic is a young company with ambition, smarts, and vision to spare, something I noticed immediately as the show took off. TL;DR: Two powerful dudes both play God and try to kill each other. Just want to note, again, that this production is set postnuclear holocaust. The production, directed by Bea Lemaster, is set in a world of waste, betrayal, and intoxication.
